Aims and Ethos
Ar Little Crickets Sunderland we aspire to cultivate an environment where every child is cherished, acknowledged for their individuality and nurtured with the utmost care. We believe in granting children the liberty to explore, to wonder at the world's marvels, and to build enduring friendships. Here, amidst our dedicated staff and well-tailored facilities, your child will not only develop a passion for learning but will also learn the essence of being part of a family.
At Little Crickets Nursery, learning extends beyond the classroom, with a variety of curriculum-linked trips. We visit exciting places like Rainton Meadows, theatre performances, Tynemouth Aquarium and even the local fire station, enhancing the children's understanding and appreciation of the world around them.
We believe in strong partnerships with parents, which is why we host regular Parent Workshops on Early Reading and Number Skills. We provide Parent Observation Booklets to give parents a voice in their child's education and offer Parent View Nights, allowing children to share their learning journey with their parents. Additionally, we hold Parent Evenings twice a year and provide detailed progress reports every six weeks to keep parents informed about their child's development.
Our nursery welcomes visitors to create diverse and exciting experiences for the children. From workshops on water density and perfume to bath bomb making with P&G, and visits from authors, dentists, doctors and even a beekeeper, our children learn from real-world experts.
We also believe in fostering a strong sense of community. Our Parent Plays allows parents, staff and children to engage in fun activities together. Recently, we organised a sponsored walk to Penshaw Monument, where families learnt about its history, created their own Lambton Worm and celebrated with water and biscuits at the top. We also hosted a Nursery Rhyme Week Stay and Play, emphasising the importance of nursery rhymes in early reading and speech development.
We take pride in creating special moments, like our highly successful "Mystery Reader" programme, where parents surprise their children by visiting the school to share a story, creating cherished memories.
Children need to discover the world for themselves, we just need to bring the world to them. That is why a world of imagination awaits at Little Crickets, with children given opportunities every day to discover new things. Children are engaged through delivery of a carefully planned sessions which aids their communication and language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, understanding of the world, literacy, mathematics and physical development. “
Join us at our education-focused nursery, where we nurture a love for learning and lay the foundation for a bright future.
